Promise of Healing and Restoration

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord…”

Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)

Sometimes, our own sins bring us troubles, our own disobedience causes destruction, and our own rebellion causes great ravage. Moreover, we are quite conscious of our waywardness, but we are slow or refuse to humble ourselves before the Holy One of Israel, the Lord God Almighty.

This was the case with Israel and Judah, continuing in rebellion and idolatry. How angry this made Almighty God. For twenty-three years, the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah, and he spoke to them repeatedly, but they did not listen (Jeremiah 25:3). God then released His furious anger and great wrath on them. This may be your current state or the state of your family. It [really] is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God! (Hebrews 10:31)

Notwithstanding all, there is hope for healing and restoration. Discipline is required. This same God of wrath is also the God of everlasting love. Psalm 30:5 (NIV) declares, “For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favour lasts a lifetime…”. God is calling us to return to Him. This is a call to repent. It is time to change our posture and humble ourselves before the Lord Almighty.

God wants to restore His people. Though He would’ve poured out His anger because of our waywardness, His desire is really to heal as we return to Him. God’s promise of love is this: I have loved you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). Discipline is a part of love since the Lord disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6). After discipline, restoration comes. It is not the end, Almighty God will heal and restore.

Prayer

Almighty God, forgive me for turning away from You. I am sorry. I repent of my sins and I’m returning to You. Please heal and restore me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
